I've shot Bullseye for years, I thought I'd try Power Pistol just for the hell of it, found out it's much cleaner.

chances are high its your bullet lube that is smoking if U are using lead.

what slugs are U using?

I am a big 231 user, but plan to test load with different powders this winter to prepare for my next shooting season.

Cea1 got it right about the Bullseye. Good powder but dirty, dirty, dirty. A pound of powder will load a bunch of cartridge cases!

As others have said, Clays is very clean.

I'm using HP-38 now and it seems like it's a bit dirtier than Clays.

231 gets a vote for 'clean'?

Seriously?

Agree - great powder, but not "clean" compared with other options.

Seriously?

Does Howdy Duty have wooden balls?
(Yep, seriously)

If you load it to a higher load density like 80% or more it burns clean.
If you load it for powder puff loads / light loading density its dirtier.

I've had black powder that burns cleaner.

Clay's works.
