I was told by the FFL that it might be an "administrative" delay caused by not having the right personnel available to review or other volume issues. I did some research and it seems that NICS is woefully understaffed and poorly funded. Go figure.

So I ended up getting a call this evening that I got a proceed. The delay was eight hours. With a UPIN. I can pick up the rifle tomorrow.

Sure makes me glad I went through the process to get the UPIN!

Not everywhere, I've had a regular CC permit in SD for 25+ years, got delayed half tbe time. All that is required is for your head LEO to approve it. Gold Card requires fingerprints submitted to DCI.

Nope. I live in the People's Republic of Maryland. 15 year Army veteran and three years in combat. Doesn't matter, not allowed to carry in Maryland.

I don't think concealed carry permits help you with out-of-state transfers anyway. I could be wrong.

OP is asking about buying a 1911. From CMP1911. He is asking on the CMP forum.

So no, this doesn't apply at all.

You're right and it won't help with the NICS check that CMP 1911 has to run before sending the pistol to your FFL.

Knock on wood I've never been delayed.

A couple of years ago West Virginia passed that those of us with a valid West Virginia concealed carry permit don't have to be run through NICS by dealers. Most dealers still run everyone through just to cover their butt. I understand it, and certainly don't mind.

They still call in and do a nics check in SD even though you have a CWP?

With transfers or new purchases I fill out the paperwork and walk out the door. No NICS check required here since I went through the process of obtaining one.
