Default SS visit 11/5/09

I decided late last night to go ahead and drive to Anniston for my first visit. I left Arkansas as the wife and son went to bed. Now I am sitting in the Wally World plot listening to the cockadoodle doo of some nearby chickens and anxiously waiting on the store to open. Sorry that there is nothing of importance in this message but I will do my best to give a good report (with pics hopefully) later today.

Now that you got our attention, we will be looking for the follow-up.

Hope you find what suits your fancy. Ask when the GCA convention rifles

are hitting the racks. How far a drive was it? Have a safe trip.
Regards,

I am going in as a total noob. My SG SA order is still pending so I mainly made the trip for more ammo and a carbine. I am sure they will get tired of all my questions.

If anyone else wants me to ask anything post a reply. I will check back as soon as I can think straight again.

ammo was there yesterday...240 rd cans clipped. garand racks were semi full. some hra fg's and springfield fg's and rg's. winnie fg's. no woodless winnie's(what i went for). i did find a woodless rack springfield with a -9sa op rod and a 18 sa bolt i need. it was a 6 digit with nice park and a 53 barrel that was a 2 m.e.....it came home with me. i saw a winnie fg with a new postwar barrel(springfield). one guy found a fg with a lockbar sight. most of the rifles were in sad shape. gems are really getting hard to find. saw a few nice carbines.

In my experience, they never get tired of questions. Or, at least, they never show that they are tired of the questions. Real nice folks.

Wow, the Service Grade Specials are nice! There are 6 digit woodless rack grade SA's. Some look better than others. I found my Carbine, a Service Grade QH with mw of less than 1! There is some ammo left but not much. It's really strange how I keep finding myself back in front of the Specials.

I purchased a Service Grade Special at Camp Perry in August. We had a JCG match on Saturday and one of the guys saw my rifle and headed to Anniston on Tuesday night to get his own. I sent an order form with him so he could pick up another for me. He ended up buying 2 for himself, one for me and a FG Winchester with a "new" (1955) SA barrel, plus ammo. The Special Service Grades are the best deal in the store. They are brand new.

Ah.... rule number one. When taunting the masses of addicts here on the forum you need to post pics of the store visit.
