My Colt M1911 which when purchased, had already been heavily buffed and cleaned befor reblue at some time, so some markings are either faint or gone. :-(

Here is my letter from Colt on this pistol. It shows that it was one of 1600 sold to the United States Government and delivered to the Ordnance Officer at the Military Training Camp in Plattsburg, NY on May 02, 1917, just short of a month when the U.S. entered WWI which was Apr 06, 1917.

Maj;

Nice specimen. Thanks for the pics, and that great piece of information Colt sent you.

Congrats Sir.

Below are some pictures of my .45s:

I have a correct Remington-Rand M1911A1, an original, but very worn Colt M1911 from 1918, a RIA that is my "shooter" and a Colt Series 70 I just bought a few months ago. In addition, a Colt M1917 revolver.

I admit that if M1911s weren't so danged expensive, I'd have a LOT more of them! I'd still like to get a Springfield Armory M1911(the M1903 people, not the current manufacturer), but that will have to wait until I win the lottery!! I was VERY forunate on the two military .45s and invested less than $1250 in them TOGETHER!

Another picture of my Remington Rand with carry rig:
