Default &mm Mauser recommendations...

A little off topic as this isn't a US rifle, but I'm hoping someone here might have some experience with these and could offer some advice...

So I have a 1912 Steyr Mauser in its original 7x57mm chambering coming in a few days. This will be the first 7mm Mauser rifle I've owned or shot. Can anyone recommend bullet weight these rifles like? Also, what was the original bullet weight for these rifles during their service life?

Thanks.

Check reloading manuals like Lyman in this caliber. They give recommendations for various loads including "accuracy" loads with bullet grains.

My own experience with Mausers and 7x57 is fairly long, but thin. I settled on 154 Hornady flat base spire points and IMR 4350 a long time ago. I had good results also with 139's, 162's, and 175's, but for all around use, the 154 won out as a 'do it all' bullet, other than varmints.
