Default Going rate of U.S. 1917 30cal rifles.

I do not see many for sale anymore. My pal has a Eddystone with all e stamps on parts and stock, barrel rates very good plus me. Less than 1. Barrel E 8-18 rec. Dates 9-18. He said I could have it for $750. Fair or not? Today. Thanks in advance.

If it’s nice and blued I would think it’s an ok price. A few years ago I paid 850 for my Winchester and was proud to get it.

Agree totally, but any good barrel '17 is worth that now. Times are a changing.

I recently picked up an Eddystone for 725, ME of 1, June 18 barrel matches the serial number date range, E stamped on everything, packed solid with some sort of grease. The guy I got it from, got it from a retired colonel 20+ years ago. Worth it to me.

It's a fair price especially if it is all Eddystone.

From what I seen it will be great ,I am 65 and will enjoy it. Thanks for the information ,God Bless. Seems like every WW-1 monument I see the Doughboys have them not Springfields. Barrel and rec are with in a month.Seems like WW -1 stuff is spiking in price since the 100 year anniversary.

Something like 75% of the rifles used in WWI were 1917s. The 1903 in some ways was the nadier combat rifle, but the 1917 was what they had and it severed and served well.

It went onto a stellar WWII career equipping more combat troops than the 1903. Philippine forces were issued that gun and made a magnificent stand against the Japanese tide (and the following Guerilla warfare). Chinese forces got a significant number as well.

Free French Forces fought with the 1917 through North Africa and onto the post Normandy break out as well as the invasions of Southern France.

SeBee issue in WWII.

Two things you can do to shoot it. The peep on the ladder can be filled in then drilled to suit your eye (smaller hole)

And or the Lyman Eyepal (game changer for sight picture) I can now see a 3 inch ball it 110 yards!

And yes, its worth the $750 at a minimum. Good clean ones are North of $1000 now.
