Default New from Howell, Michigan

I've had a couple of post recently, and thought it would be good to just say hi with this post. The information here is astounding, and I've spent the day out of this 4th of July heat just reading and soaking up the data.

I found this site after having a less than pleasant experience with the local gun shop. My intention with them was to put an M1A in their stealth layaway program. I was a bit put off about the extra $100 they were going to charge me for the layaway after having spent a good $10,000 in their store over the past 6 or so years. They weren't about to wave the fee either as "everybody else is doing it too" so I left the store empty handed.

On the way home I got to thinking about CMP. Hey it can't hurt to look right? After hitting the site I decided that the Garand would be the better choice for me especially with the North Store being a 2 hour or less drive from my house. My preference is the M1 anyway and the M1A was just filling the Garand action itch so Saturday we get up early and make the trek.

I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can about this weapon from the knowledgeable members of this forum.

Welcome to the forum. This forum, stores and Garands are addictive. You can get a Garand modified to box mag fed. Vendors row is good to visit at the North store. Good luck with your rifle search.

Thanks. I've wanted a Garand for as long as I can remember but never had the opportunity to get one. The M1A was just going to be the substitute. I've found that ammo doesn't appear to .be. an issue either.

Welcome to the Forum. My Grandparents lived in Fowlerville and Aunt and Uncle took over the farm when they passed but sadly they had to let it go. I also had a Cousin who worked at Howell Chevrolet until a couple of years ago. I didn't know about the CMP when I went North for visits. I think you will do much better at the NS, but it will be hard to pick just one!

Mike.
Welcome to the forum.
I'm in Brighton and I'm jealous.
I wanted to take my first trip to the NS to pick out my first M1 this holiday week, but got other financial priorities this summer.
Good luck and let us know how your trip was.

I will and you are welcome to join us if you decide to change your mind about the drive. I have a few issues coming up such as the annual propane purchase, but to heck with it.

Are you a member of Howell Gun Club?

Not a member, but been out there a couple of times with a member friend from work.
How did the trip to NS go?
Looks like a lot of posters had the same idea -to go the day after the holiday.
I was really geeked to pick up one of those WIN-13's that popped up last week, but it appears they got picked-over pretty well this week.
Maybe they'll bring some more out of the back again.
