Ugh!

Does the rifle have any collector value without the original stock?

I almost jumped in with a "B' stock comment, But nope. It's usually best to wait for the real experts.
Outstanding rifle Calfed!

Thanks, pickax.

Kinda disappointing to learn about the stock.

I also got an 03A4 at that auction.

Not the worst thing at all. I'll bet that one has a great history from a good shooter.
Show off the 'A4 when you get a chance.

The value is in the papered receiver. Looks like a nice rifle.

The previous owner may be researched.

The rifle still has collector value without the original stock. Absence of the original stock diminishes value, but the quality of the reproduction stock restores some of the diminished value.

Calfed, what did you pay for this? You have a local 10 day wait and DROS expenses and shipping, so what is the total cost. Not having a real stock does hurt the collector interest and value. Also, I am certain the Auction House was well aware of that fact. They knew what they were selling. You just might want to stop payment until you have received proper answers. Good luck.

I paid $2400 shipped for the NM rifle. Ditto for the 03A4.

This is the cautionary tale that everyone needs to be aware of these days. There has been such a high frequency of guys changing out parts on rifles that it is only a matter of time before they get back into circulation on the resale market and misrepresented as historically intact. By intact I mean something comply different than "correct."

Correct meaning a rifle has all the parts it is supposed to have had when it left the factory. Intact meaning that all those parts are still original to the assembly.

Sorry to hear what happened, but it is a nice rifle. It might be worth calling the seller and asking for a refund based on the price you paid. As you know, the 10-day waiting period out here has nothing to do with the sales transaction unless the seller grants it to you. Best of luck and as they say, "stuff happens." And it happens to all of us. But still, it is a damn nice looking 03!
