Default Repro USMC 1941A1 sniper 8X Unertl

OK I know Creedmore has these, and I know I can call and get a price (not listed on the web or print catalog) but if I start talking to a sales person I will get snagged by the proverbial marketing treble hook and tag the credit card hard and have lots of 'splainin' to do to SWMBO. So what is the skinny, those who have inquired/bought, what are they asking?!

The mounts on the pictured rifles resemble actual Unertl mounts and not the reproduction Hi-Lux style mounts. The eyepiece and ring containing the power marking also resemble a WW2 vintage Unertl scope.

It looks to me that they used an original Unertl scope for the ad picture. I could be wrong however.

The bolt handle appears to have been relieved to provide scope clearance.

My thoughts were that the pictured rifle is an actual M1941 (or an original Unertl on an 03A1). The stock also looks to have a little bit more character than I would expect to see on new wood. Kind of deceptive if that is the case.

The scope is available for $549 from Creedmoor. If you have a rifle, Chuck in denver can build it for you.

I agree with Chuck, if you can find an original 8 power 1" or 1.25" target model for $750 buy it.

The last two 8 power original Unertl scopes I saw sold on the web went for over $1200 apiece. One on GB had 47 bids and sold for $1225. The other one on Ebay sold with a Unertl shipping box for $1450 with 45 bids. They were both eight power 1" target model ( the 1" target model is the one I think Hi-Lux copied instead of the correct USMC 1.25" Target model).

The 8 power Lyman target spot scopes have been in the 500-700 range.
