Smile Howdy from Sugar Land TX!

Well, I finally broke down and did it - I ordered my first Garand from CMP! One of three treats that I've given myself following 36 years of service cashing in a couple of retirement checks - the other two being having my great great granddad's Model 73 restored and purchasing a 2011 Colt SAA, both in matching caliber of 38-40.

My Garand order arrived in Aniston on 14MAY - can't wait to see it get moving off of square one and finally receiving it in hand. Now, I just wish that I had ordered two (harrumph!)...gonna recitify that today hopefully.

In anticipation of receiving it (them?), I've ordered some ammo - 500 rds of Prvi Partisan 308's and 400 rds of NATO surplus 7.62x51's. Trying to determine what to shoot in the rifle has been quite confusing based on what I've read but I think it should be able to gobble up all of these with no problem.

Well, that's about it from South Texas,

It took me less then 3 weeks to receive mine when I ordered it a little over a month ago. I took it out yesterday and shot Win. Nato ammo, handload with 150 gr Hornady and 42 Gr. H4895 and a load with 135 gr. Sierra BTHP and 41 gr 3031. It shot super with the 2 handloads but didn't like the Win 147 ammo too well. You will love it.

Glad to have you aboard Skipper. Seeing that you loaded up on 308 ammo one has to believe you ordered one of CMP's service grade specials in that caliber. I thought I was finished buying the Garands and then CMP tossed the 308's out and I had to have one. What you will recieve is going to be far more than you expected. Mine came in 3 wks ago and they are a pleasure to shoot. You are going to enjoy it. Guaranteed.

Talking

Thanks...got my email confirmation that they received my order and have sent it to sales.
Not more than 30 minutes after I had requested to add a SG Garand (added that I would take either SA or HRA, whichever seemed to be in better condition) along with two cans of the Greek surplus 30-06 rounds)...so I'll have a few pieces of lead to put down range with it as well.
I GOT THE BUG!!!

Just checked my order status again today...showed that my M2 Ball has shipped and...hang on to your hats...regarding my order for 2x Garands --> "Your order has processed and is currently awaiting shipment - shipment should normally occur in 7-14 days." My trigger finger is getting itchy even as I type!!!

On 01JUN, my account showed that "Your order has processed and is currently awaiting shipment - shipment should normally occur in 7-14 days." It won't be long now! (I hope)
