Default Hello from behind enemy lines.

Hello, my name is Steve. I reside in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. Just wanted to drop in and say hi. I placed my order for an M1 Garand last week. I've been wanting to purchase one since I was 16 but couldn't find one at an affordable price. Every gun shop here in my area are asking between $1500-$3000.

Welcome Yellowneck,
I also reside in enemy territory. Both New York and California are beautiful states run by idiots. Hope you get a great M1 and keep voting for liberty. Eddie

Steve,

Welcome aboard. I lived in NYS for 40 years and moved to TN and LOVE it here.

CA and NY are beautiful states and one hopes that someday they will be free once more but if you get a chance to relocate you may find you don’t want to go back!

In any case, beware the dreaded M1 disease.... it takes hold and they multiply!

If you're interested in competing with that new M1 there are GSM matches at the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center in Sloughouse every couple of months. Check the calendar on their website.

They also have a monthly "military silhouette" match which is a lot of fun and a great way to get practice time in at varying ranges.

Greetings from Louisiana. I’m actually visiting my daughter in the East Bay Area for a couple of weeks and I hope to attend a gun show in Vallejo the first weekend in December. I’m curious as to what one can actually buy at a California gun show. (I do know that as a non-resident, I can’t even buy a long gun like I can in other states.)

Welcome to the forum!

You'd probably be only able to get just accessories. Purchasing ammo here in CA is a pain, considering that you're not a resident; you'll have to pay $19 for a background check and you'd have to wait 10 days in order to be able to purchase ammo. After your 10 days you have a 30 day grace period to purchase ammo from that shop you did your initial background check in which would be pointless at the gun show. I went to a gun show at the Cow Palace in Daly City 2 weeks ago and couldn't even buy ammo because I didn't have a real CA ID, a passport or my official birth certificate handy on me. The only items I was able to purchase was a sling and 7 enbloc clips for my incoming M1 Garand.
