Default Lgs h&r m12

Hello everyone, I gotta know if I should slap myself for passing over an Model 12 I found locally. It was priced at 650 and they offered 600.

It had a Redfield Internation rear sight and a globe front sight that didn't have a matching finish.

The stock cosmetically was a little rough but nothing that some BLO wouldn't take out. There was corking material between the barrel and stock. One spot of bluing was nicked pretty bad, about 1/4" long.

Overall it was in just okay shape.

Well should I slap myself or pat myself?

Bill

That's $175 to $200 in sights (more maybe, depending on the front globe) if that helps any. $600 over all isn't out of line.

Yep.
Its a great rifle. The original sights should be Palma's but overall its a good price.

Some say the M12 is the equal of Win 52's....and superior to Kimber 82G.
I just say that I like mine alot.

As Edlmann said above, with those sights, assuming they are in good shape, I kinda doubt you will find a better deal these days ($400 - $450 for the bare rifle?). Nothing wrong with the H&R M12. I would check out the bore, make sure it goes snap (the hammer strike sounds right, all the usual stuff. Some shops will let you shoot it a few times, especially if they know you.

Okay so the answer is that I should slap myself LOL. I have an M541-X and don't really need another target 22.

The sights were in good shape and I think it was the correct front sight arrangement. However it didn't have the Palma rear sights.

Maybe I'll have to go buy it....There are two on gunbroker at the moment that are in great shape but with no sights starting at 555 and 750

Let's see:

Front sight - Olympic Globe from CMP estore - $29

Rear sight - Redfield International Rear Sight from CMP estore - $155 (less aperture)

Rear Sight Aperture - on GB - $15

So the sights are worth about $220 (remember shipping).

I just bought a beautiful M12 from robertmcm on the Forum for $400 - great shape.

So if you can get out of the LGS for $550 (or even $575) out the door it's likely a good deal, based on the condition as you described it ("a little rough").

It is a nice rifle, and right now Ken Viani still has a scope mount for it (I just received one, $115). Note: Ken says that this is the last run.

Best of luck!

I'd suggest posting here in the wtb forum. Some times sellers like to be more discreet than posting in the wts ads. Some members might be motivated as much to help out as to make a sale.
