Default 1917 Colt National Match?

I’m getting ready to look at a 1911 locally that the owner says is a 1917 Mfg that was part of a Navy contract. When I do a Colt S/N search it comes back with: Year of Manufacture 1917
Model GOVERNMENT MODEL AND 1ST MODEL NATIONAL MATCH

I’ve only seen a couple of pictures and it appears to have an old nickel plate job.
Did they Mfg National Match pistols that early? I didn’t think they started making NM until 1933. Does it add any value back? What other features should I look for? I don’t know why he believes it is a Navy 1911. I know the finish is a detractor

Here is a link to the 2 photos I have:

No. Colt groups all these pre-war serial numbers together but NMs were not produced until the early 30s. The reason they list them that way is because the pre-war guns all used the same serial number block. Post-war the GM and NMs had separate serial number blocks. But that gun is a mess. I wouldn't bother with it unless it's dirt cheap.

True, but interesting side note:
I have seen on two occasions (one being a "Jack the Dog" auction and the other in-person at a show) a US M1911 U.S. Army that was returned to the colt factory by a private owner and "upgraded" to national match, with associated national match markings added to the slide.
