Default NS Report for April 1st

Myself and two others made the drive from Chicago on Friday. Got there right as they opened and were the first in the store. We spent several hours browsing and drove back with 4 rifles, two bayonets, and a lot of ammo. A FG H&R, two SG H&Rs, and a correct grade H&R. To be honest, the FG should have been a SG, the muzzle wear was just over 1 and the throat erosion was 3, it has decent GI wood too. The two SGs had replacement stocks and were in excellent shape. The Correct was covered in cosmo and should clean up beautifully.

There were no SG rifles sporting GI wood, but plenty of nice ones. Some decent FGs, although quite a few swallowed my muzzle gauge.

Plenty of the specials.

I looked over some of the M1Cs and Ds. I did spot one C with a serialed base that matched the receiver. Personally I just don't see the allure. Most had beat up wood, replacement barrels, and were re-parked in black. The Ds weren't all that great either and seemed picked over.

Staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. All-in all a great time and well worth the trip.

I'm just west of Chicago.
Sounds like slim pickens. Was the FG GI wood decent?

I guess I should say were there more like the ones you found? How was the wood on the FGs?

I'm sorry to say that I wasn't really looking at anything *not* in my budget so I really couldn't give you a worthy report in that respect. I can say that the H&R's were darned impressive and if you want a shooter you can't go wrong on these.

It seems that I'm looking at the same M1D's, is anyone buying these to rotate the stock? And not one $800 winchester with a win. barrel for the last 3 mo. the same guns.
