Default Recommend an optic for AR-15 MMR.

Just heard the CMP allows up to a 4x optic for the Modern Military match.

Please recommend an optic for my AR-15 MMR.

Thank you in advance.

It should be small to keep the weight down and 4 power. Quality is nice, but the actual requirements for 1-200 yard SR targets are not demanding. The Leupold compact M8 4x is a good choice IMO. The cantilever AR mounts from China are completely adequate and cost less than $20. Good Shooting. ...

If you build a LEGAL MM then you will have to be concerned with the 8.5# max weight. A decent 4x scope would be good. Considerably lighter than a variable 1-4x and lighted reticle. All that stuff adds up. A decent ChiCom knockoff cantalever mount is GTG. I wouldn't be real concerned about being repeatable. It's not like ours SR's where you are constantly cranking knobs. Low profile knobs (set it and leave it) types are fine for only 200yds. Any wind comes up just favor. Once you get that figured out it's a piece of cake.

I hoped to put a Vortex Viper pst on mine. It was heavier and put the gun over weight. I bought a Vortex Crossfire II and it works great. WTH Vortex named a scope a "Crossfire" is just bad Ju-Ju, if you ask me!

As Kilo-Sierra said, the repeatability is not a real concern with a 200 yd rifle. I picked up a 1.75-4X Sightron for about $130 and it seems to do well for me (4x for prone, 1.75 for awfulhand). Shot a 282 with it this year.
