Mainspring housing has 9 vertical grooves.

Also notable is the frame to slide and barrel bushing to barrel fit is tight. I canít wait to take it to the range and run a few rounds through it. Iíll post a range report after I shoot it. I am busy plumbing a new construction house for at least the next couple weeks so it will be a little while.

Thanks everyone for your comments; this is my first older 1911 and I donít have very much knowledge on them at this time. Mostly a surplus rifle collector. Any guess on production date? My FFL said late 1943 or early 1944?

SN1279699-1441430-Remington Rand-1944 starts at 1363700 161732 produced in 1943-1944.
