Default 1911A1's without rebuild markings. Who done it ?

I see pistols, received by some lucky RGN number holders, that have markings as to what armory that rebuilt them. Where were the unmarked CMP 1911A1's rebuilt ?

Darn near any military facility with parts, parkerizing solutions and the inclination to do it. I know Quantico rebarreled, parkerized and returned to service many pistols and small arms, but none were marked.

Great news.....mine is totally UNMARKED (with a replacement slide and barrel) so I now can claim it is a A MARINE QUANTICO re-build. That has GOT to increase its value - just saying

Not all were marked after rebuild. I knew a fellow in the service they got drunk and thrown in brig. The Capt . Made them clean 100 1911A1's. All slides in one bin ,all barrels in another etc etc down the line. When put back together a part was a part and never sorted by maker.

I just posted in another thread about a Colt I recently purchased. It's a 1918 frame with a RR type 3 slide, arched MS housing, plastic grips and HS barrel. It has an invoice showing it was shipped from Red River Arsenal in 1967 to (I guess) an NRA member. It has no re-build marks at all. I thought most of those guns usually had "AA" marks?

No that is a gun show myth, many were unmarked. What's old is new again.
