Default Cases for the CMP 1911ís

Does anyone know where the CMP gets those great cases the 1911ís come in? I just got my CMP 1911 last week and really like the case it shipped in. The case looks very much like a Pelican 1400 but the top exterior and latches are different. I found that the foam that is cut out for the pistol and clip had several tears where the pistol moved during shipping and I am planning to replace that piece of foam with military grade closed cell foam. I have also noticed that many pictures others posted of their 1911ís in the case showed the same tears. Iím not complaining since the case did itís job of protecting the pistol in shipment. Thanks CMP

Thanks Shomway, I think you are right. That is the same case. I believe the CMP must have removed the pull and pluck middle foam layer and replaced it with a custom cut piece of foam to help protect the 1911 during shipping.

If you want a pelican quality case for much less cost, check out the ones that Harbor Freight carries. I've handled them in person and they are a great case.

Sam's Club did carry some cases similar to the Pelican cases.

Thanks for the tip on the Harbor Freight cases. I need a couple of these and just don't want to pay the Pelican price. I didn't know that HF had cases like this.
