Default H&R garand

I was told that the H&R that I have was from CMP . Is there anyone that I can contact to see if it was a CMP rifle . It appears to be a correct grade 1954 serial number.

I believe for a nominal fee the CMP will research your rifle to see if it came through there system. I think it was $20.00 or $25.00. Eddie

They will only tell you if it were sold through CMP and what the grade was

Try the customer service number in Aniston first. They should get you where you need to be.

Don’t bother customer service in Anniston. If you follow Orlando’s direction you will find the following CMP instructions:
We require a letter request with payment and we will respond by letter stating if we found anything, and if so – when we sold it and what model it was we actually sold. We will not identify original purchaser. Allow 2-3 weeks per serial number.

Charge is $25.00 per serial number, prepaid, whether we find anything or not.
If interested, send letter to CMP, ATTN: Serial Number Research, 1401 Commerce Blvd., Anniston, AL 36207.
This should get you what you want.

Did they give you proof?

I came across a $2500 M1C on gunbroker. Seller/dealer swore it was CMP because he didn’t have any reason to doubt.. ha!

I spent the extra $500 on CMP M1C...

If folks aren’t willing to check with CMP for nominal fee, then I wouldn’t buy it.

As I stated earlier, they will confirm if it were sold through CMP and the grade it was sold as. They will send you a letter with this information. They will not give you this information over the phone, this is something they have to research and it takes time.
I have done this for several of my own rifles
