Were they having receiver inspection troubles?
Yea, I have a 5.79 with a 4/55 barrel, it's a correct grade from the cmp.

My 5801000 also has a 3 of 55 barrel and a receiver heat lot of
Z6A. It was a Greek Air Force return I picked out during the GCA convention at CMP south in Oct. 2009.

Mine:

Ser.# 5870330 - about mid-October, 1955.

Barrel says: SA F6535448 5 55 MD 50

Bolt: 6528287 - SA A15.

OP rod: 6535382 - SA

Trigger housing: 6528290 - SA; trigger guard latch is stamped.

All other parts are S.A.-marked. TE-1; ME-0.

Wood: stock and handguards match, but stock has clear CMP cartouche.

Looks to be a CMP collector grade M1?
