Default I hit the CMP SG Lottery again (5.9 mil SA pics)

The CMP always sends wonderful rifles, but the Service Grade that arrived today makes me feel like I've won the lottery!

I was glad to see a 5.9 Million SA was on the way when I checked the eStore, but thrilled when I opened the case and discovered the original barrel.

The stock has numerous small dings and nicks, but it also appears to be original to the rifle. It is marked with a Springfield firing proof and DAS. The furniture needs a bit of a cleaning but is quite nice otherwise.

The rifle saw some use, but not much - the muzzle wear is 1+, the throat erosion 2+, or pretty much new.

It doesn't get much better these days. I'm a happy camper!

Very nice, WOW!! Looks more like you hand picked it from the NS during the "old days". Don't get any better!! Congrats!

Funny how a bunch of the recent SGs seem to be 5.8 & 5.9s.

I wonder if it could be that a crate was opened where they all came from the same source?

I have a Type 1 NM that is 6 numbers lower than your new SG. The barrel on mine is 5-56. Nice score for sure.

You find different barrel dates in the National Match rifles. I'm pretty confident 2-56 is correct for the receiver - it looks like an original installation, and the two closest rifles in the database on USRifleCal30M1.com are 5976120 and 5977150, both with barrels from 3-56.

Thanks for the reply, it's always fun to swap notes on these!

Thanks! It does have that feel.

I often wish I could use my time machine to go back to the North Store in 2010/2011 and scoop up all of those correct Service Grades in the racks! I was looking something up in my old posts the other day, and I noted that I made a North Store report sometime in that period. I commented in that post that I bought five rifles during one visit and could have come home with as many more, they were all so nice.
