Default Doubled barrel dates on M1D 1952 barrels

Another obscure question that one of you might know the answer to.
I have been seeing the dates on barrels doubled, or re-stamped on 1952 M1D barrels.

Are you guys also seeing this and does anyone know why it would have needed to be done?

The ones I have seen so far are on Tooele M1D builds but it is sorta hard to believe it would be just them.

How common is this?

No expert here but I think it is the bounce effect....similar to what we see on stock cartouches.

I've had probably three of four barrels that had similar markings. Unfortunately, none of them were Tooele rebuilds.

Default Another double-stamped date

Located a picture of another one and am wondering just how common this really is. This one is also on a Tooele M1D of a friend of mine, but hard to believe that has anything to do with it.
I don't think I have noticed this effect on other years, so I am welcoming anyone that has one either from '52, or another year to chime in and let me know.

Had an SA 8-41 barrel with the upside down legend that was double-stamped. It wasn't a D barrel, of course.

i am not sure what a double stamped barrel would have to do with Tooele. All of the D barrels were manufactured by Springfield in 51, 52, and 53. I don't think Tooele got into the building of M1Ds until the 60s. They would have no reason to stamp a date on the barrel.
