Default Local PD returning M16 bayonets

Saw on the news last night where a local sheriffs dept was forced to return surplused m16 bayonets to comply with obamas new rules regarding what cops can get from the military. Apparently bayonets are now banned. Looked like brand new Ontario blades with USMC labels embedded in the grips. Maybe they wind up being sold by CMP?

If you got the govliquidation.com you can bid on groups of bayos. They sell them several times a year. There are actually several auctions about to end at 1700 Eastern time.

Great news for us. I had a link once that you could look at your local force and see what loot they got. Some departments looked like they were opening a surplus store. Some of my local departments had sets of snow camo's and the 4 piece sleep systems and this is on the Gulf Coast. It doesn't snow here.

Riot Control requires either full length batons or rifles. And rifles and bayonets are much more intimidating ...

Riot control. I saw lots of bayonets in the possession of NG troops on riot control duty in 1967. Rick

Don't know what a small IA police department needs full auto M14s for either, but I know where nine of them are. After having fired one I understand why the military removed the switch. It's easy for the rifle to get away from you.

The use of rifles and bayonets for riot control ended a LONG time ago.........

So I'm not sure why they ordered them.............
