Jeremy, I personally would not trust a 9 lb measurement to a bathroom scale. If you can find an electronic scale that has a max weight that is closer to 9 lbs, I would recommend using it to re-weigh your rifle. I have used my wife's baking scale - it has a max weight of something like 11 lbs and resolution down to an ounce. Good luck! Rick

The excess weight is generally the barrel. Since the MM is 200yd (or less) the optic can be minimal size and wt. or even omitted and cleans are still common on the SR target. Your offhand should be the determining factor. Note that there is no difference in allowed weight with or without optic...does that make sense?? I might mention that CMP never seemed interested in enforcing their MM rules at games. Good Shooting. ..

Yeah, I just consider MM to be a contest between me and the target and shoot my M1A.

Overall weight has never been checked as far as I k now. The bathroom scale is not accurate enough for this purpose. I use a fish scale.
