Most shooters think they need to replicate M2 ball so lots of 150s and 155s.

The discerning rifleman shoots 110s or 125s at 200. My favorite are the Speer 125 TNTs. I use a very moderate charge of H4895.

The "ceresco load" that many have had success with is a 110 bullet, 50 grains Varget, 3.09 coal.

Thanks, I haven't used anything lighter than 150s, and actually prefer 168 grain bullets but Ill try the 125s..

168s are great bullets but overkill for the 200 yard line. The lighter bullets are just as accurate, don't beat you up as much (which is worth points), and cost a heckuva lot less. You'll be glad you tried them.

I have a National Match M1 that I shoot the 125s all the way to 300 with very good results. Switch to 175s for 600.

I'm bipolar, these two loads both shoot well for me:

- 168 SMK, 46.7 gr. of IMR-4064, CCI 200 primer, 3.31" COAL, HXP brass

- 110 Speer "HotCor", 47.0 gr. of IMR-3031, Tula LRM primer, 3.10" COAL, HXP brass

I still use the 168's for matches because I always have and am afraid to change. Objectively, however, the 110's shoot just as well at close ranges.

125gr TNT's have helped me win a lot of goodies...

I shoot the same load in my Garand, 03a3, and 1917 using h4895. I only shoot these for 100/200 matches.

Is anyone using 50 grains of 4895 with Hornady 125 TNT bullets? If so, what OAL?

What rifle? Standard 1:10 twist barrel?

I've tried different weight projectiles and various loads in my 1903 NM and have come back to 168's, either Nosler CC's or Sierra SMK's with Varget. From the bench they'll consistently group at my personal limit (eyes, skill, etc.) of ~1-1/8" to 1-1/4" at 100 yards.

I have a 1:12 Krieger barrel in my M1, and get the best results from 155 Nosler CC's and Varget, at a moderate not light load. In a CMP Special with a 1:10 Criterion, I had better accuracy with 168's.

Curious what OAL is working for 125 TNT's.
