What are you doing to treat them and are you wrapping them back up afterwards in the same paper?

I wonder what they came treated with and what would be a good substitute to smear on to replenish the dried up stuff? Lithium grease would work? CLP dissolved the old stuff away on the one I got last week.

I clean them with Hoppes9.

If rust spot present, lightly remove with 0000 wool. Most often rust can be removed but a small pit remains. Best to stop rust in its tracks.

Then I spray them heavily with CLP inside and out.

Each mag is stored in its own ziplock.

The mag is kept dripping wet with CLP.

The wrapper itself is stored in its own ziplock.

The set of two ziplocks are kept together. I use the ziplocks you can write on.

Mag #1 and wrapper #1, Mag #2 and wrapper #2. ETC.

I know its extreme, but these mags are a investment.

I also plan on grading them and writing it on the bag. 1=MINT, 2 and 3.

Valued at $60-$80+
10 years from now........Oh boy

Sounds like you got the "local" deal. Is Dupage near you?

At that price we had to jump on them. I never use 30 rounders but Dupage MADE us buy them!! (I only got 4).

sounds like it. My 4, 2 were purfect and 1 had a few small pits and the other several small pits but even with that they are well worth the $40

I just received another 10 and indeed 50% are mint. The rest have a couple micro points of corrosion at most.

NOTE: today I finally got to the range to try my M1A1 for the first time. I tested a couple 70's M2 marked magazines that came with the rifle and they failed miserably. Every other shot or so was a failure to feed. The springs don't seem strong enough to push a round up into position.

Tomorrow I am going back with one of the USGI magazines that I got from Dupage to test. I'll post back with results but I expect no problems.
