Anyone go a magic pet load they are willing to share? I just acquired an M96 and will reload for it soon.

Default 1.5" @ 100 yd. 5 shot group

I've got a 1941 vintage M38 Husky that I use a Winchester case, Win LR primer, 35.8 gr. H-Varget, Hornady 140 gr. A-Max, seated to 3.050. Will do 1.5" as long as I do my part. Rifle is all original, iron sights, no scope. Trial & error will dial yours in to it's pet load, but this might help as a starting point. Best of luck. Great shooting rifles.

Had poor luck with imr 4064 as it was too quick and would let the brass begin to relax while bullet was still in the LONG 29" inch tube. I would get smoke through the action and heavy carbon streaking on brass. Better luck with slower powders (imr 4350 aa 3100). current load is 44.0 aa 3100 with hornady 140 interlock and cci 200 at oal of 3.072. very good accuracy!!

I'm currently developing a load with the Nos 129gr CC BTHP. Initial results were extremely good with start load of IMR 4350 seated rather long with Fed 210 Match and Norma brass. Grouped 1.2" 5 shots at 100 with '41 upgrade Iron sights on M96. I'll post more specifics after further testing. Recoil extremely mild, POI closer to sights than 139gr PRVI ammo.

4350 seems to be powder of choice for 6.5x55

I was running 42 gr of Accurate 2700 pushing a Remington 140 gr bullet. Whole mess sat on top a Winchester primer. I'm in the process of shifting everything I have over to H4895 simply for the simplicity of using only one powder. Still experimenting with the 6.5 I had good results with the AA2700.
