Default PPU, 8x57 IRS, SP, 196 Grain, 20 Rounds

Found a new home with a local member.

Apparently attention to detail isn't my strong point because it took ten attempts to chamber this in my Hakim before I realized it wasn't the right 8mm ammo.

Anyway, if anyone can use this, it's yours for the cost of shipping (figure 1-lb via UPS Ground from 15237).

Here are the details so you know what it is: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/produ...unds?a=1943961

Generous offer. Do you reload? Rather than giving them away you could pull the bullets and reuse the powder and bullets in rimless cases.

Thanks Sigman. Nope, I don't reload so this stuff will probably outlive me around here. Hopefully someone can use them, though I wish shipping was cheaper.

They're free to a good home around Pittsburgh and it looks like shipping would be $8.50 on the east coast, $10 in the middle of the country, and $13 all the way to the west coast.

How 'bout this: I'll send them anywhere for $8.50 which is half retail.

If this is correct for a WWII German K98 Mauser, I'll take it. Can anyone confirm?

Sorry Bob, but it isn't the same ammo. This is what I found on 8x57IRS:

Quote:
The 7.9257mm Mauser (designated as the 8mm Mauser or 857mm by the SAAMI and 8 57 IS by the C.I.P. is a rimless bottlenecked rifle cartridge. The 7.9257mm Mauser cartridge was adopted by the German Empire in 1905, and was the German service cartridge in both World Wars.

The rimmed variant of the 7.9257mm Mauser, the 857mm IRS, was developed later for break-barrel rifles and combination guns. The 857mm IRS is commercially offered as a chambering option in European break-action rifles as a chambering option in European break-action rifles.

They're yours, Snuffy1a. We can plan to meet somewhere this weekend.
