Default Please tell me you didn't buy this M84

http://www.ebay.com/itm/M1D-garand-s...p2047675.l2557

'Surface rust'.. lol. Understatement of the year.

Winner bidder paid $500?? It's potentially gonna be fuse-rusted in the inside and completely useless. Plz don't ask me to 'service' it. Haha.

Maybe someone bought it to match their extremely rusty garand.

I was willing to bet that you were the one that bought it. I've seen the pics of your handywork.

Look past the rust. An original mount $250 to 300. Well needed spare parts who knows what these may be worth.

I've looked 'inside' a few scopes in this condition. The aluminum parts (reticle holder, erector tube) may be ok, but typically the steel reticle tube assembly gets rust fused to the inside of the steel tube and you have to cut the tube to harvest any parts. Hey, I could be wrong on this one, just going by experience.
The center of the mounts thumbscrew assembly looks really bad to me.

I was watching it until it passed $250. I could see purchasing it for the mount. There is always hope something is salvageable from the scope, but I would put a lot of money on it.

I see a lot of "don't know much about it, purchased at an estate sale". Must be a load of estate sales happening.
