Ft Hill is a nice range and the people there are great.

For first timers:
Be aware that there is no driving down range, like at Perry, you'll have to carry or wheel your kit.
No big deal, just be prepared.

This is not so good news.... I dont have the full cart etc to carry everything. I also need better glass for those distances.

You don't need a cart, though one is nice. There are several ways to skin this cat.

One of the cheapest: put everything except your scope stand, rifle, coat, and mat in a backpack. Put your coat on (leave it unfastened). Put on your backpack. Roll up your mat and shove the scope stand rod through the center of the mat roll. Put the mat/scope stand on one shoulder. Put the rifle on the other shoulder. Walk to the next firing line.

If you absolutely need wheels, just about anything will do. I've seen ALL manner of contraptions at Perry: wheelbarrows, garden carts, children's wagons, welding carts, even a plastic trash can strapped to a box moving dolly.

You're not looking for bullet holes. You're looking for shot spotters (1" or more) and value markers (4" I think), both of which are in contrasting colors. A pair of 8 or 10X binoculars will work for that. And if you really need a spotting scope, someone will lend you one.

That will work. There's a company that actually makes gun carts (mostly for the sporting clays crowd) that are modeled closely after the three-wheeled kid carts for joggers.

ETA, here you go: http://www.ruggedgear.com/index.cfm/...=cat/cat76.htm

Aaron, pm me if you need some leads on overnight accommodations. Or maybe I'll run into you at Reade this year.

Reminder, September 26th is the MD State Service Rifle Championship, and the 27th is our last EIC match of the season. Mark it on your calendars!

Im a member of Fort Hill and i still havent been to a vintage match yet. Everytime i try to go something always comes up. I love the range toward Old Town and yes the 600 yards is intimidating but fun to shoot. Im going to try and come to this one this year ive heard its a great match to shoot.
