In seriousness perhaps an M1 only match (regardless of configuration/match prep) held yearly at Camp Perry for EIC points. It could be maybe like the SAFS introductory 4 points or something, kinda not a bad idea.

Come, now. I'm not suggesting that a competent rifleman with a match-tuned Garand can't be competitive in service rifle matches. I'm just saying, that if you apply the same ratio of tuned vs. as-issued garands to a Garand EIC of some kind as what is seen in a JCG games match, the board will be tipped toward those with match-tuned Garands. The as-issued shooters will be leg meat. And this would be extra-zesty sugary-BBQ all-you-can-eat legmeat rolled in MSG served to you by a beautiful and busty lady: they're shooting 1 to 3 minute rifles at the 600 yard target! Because of this reason, I wouldn't support a Garand-only EIC, and I think it would cheapen the program.

Right now, there is only one kind of EIC with one purpose. It is a marksmanship competition with capable equipment. Because of the equipment, the match, neglecting relays, is an accurate measurement of a pool of shooters. I just don't think you can do this with Garands...

The Western Games have run more than one As-Issued EIC match over the years.

These matches were governed like the SAFS, with only leg points available to those high shooters with no points.

Well, it's structured so that you can't get a hard leg. I'm still not wild about the idea of a Garand EIC. The only possible reason for wanting such a match would be to lower the bar. A person can still build an accurized wood stocked service rifle and shoot an EIC.

I will open this post by saying that I have those 4 EIC points from a Garand EIC. However, it was a complete surprise, not something I intentionally planned.

That said, since it is only 4 points, it isn't really going to make or break someone's pursuit of Distinguished. It might, however, give someone a push toward serious pursuit. Otherwise, I can't see that it really hurts anything or cheapens anyone's achievements.

I know a couple guys who have earned points in the Garand EIC who probably would not have bothered with the EIC program had they not earned those 4 points.
