I have a CMP special that I use for as issued and John C Garand matches and then I have a Fulton Peerless grade that I shoot across the course matches with for fun.

It is. We have several who shoot in the Garand division. Great fun.

GSM 100 and 200 yard matches at the local clubs once a month.

I'll also loan out my 30-06 rifle for CMP clinics.

Default M1Garand's, where to shoot?

Any places to shoot M1 Garands, iron sight matches? I see service rifle matches everywhere but trying to find a Garand match, in Texas or OK has become a chore to find just even one. Thanks

Did you check the Competition Tracker? I see quite a few Texas CMP sanctioned GSM Matches in Lyons, El Paso, Abilene, New Braunfels, Poolville, Beaumont, Brazoria, Houston. I don't know if you're near any of these, but check the tracker link, under Filter Criteria select Match Results by State, then find and enter TX, then scroll down and see the different local TX clubs hosting Garand Matches. Then do the same and check OK

Thank you so much Craftsman, I see exactly what you explained to me. Gosh, I was kinda disappointed for a little bit thinking I just bought all this stuff and no where to enjoy shooting it. I live in Frisco, about 30 miles N.W. of Dallas. If a match is within 2 hrs than I don't mind the drive at all. I have noticed that there are all kinds of service rifle matches. Like, every week. Thinking about seeing if that would be a "hobby" for me. I've used M-16's for over 20 years, it's an OK rifle, but they don't compare (for me) to shooting M1 Garands, 1903, etc. Friend recommended getting a M1A(?). He said I could use it in service rifle, military or match, depending on configuration. Looks like those are expensive rifles but, no one ever said shooting is a inexpensive hobby, lol.

The Texas Garand Championship used to be held in Terrell during the fall. The last mention I see from a quick search is from 2015.

I love shooting Garand matches. I would do it every week if time permitted.

Who put on the pop up combat course? Any left on the schedule for this year?
