Result is a little glossy, but looks good on the blued, commercial 513T.

Thats the way I clean all my stocks. Works very well with less chance or warping the stock

Default 40X usmc and 52D

Here are the two I just received from CMP. Thanks, CMP for the great opportunity to own classic American rifles.

USMC 40X:

And here is the 52D:

If that rifle were a women, it would be a very fat one. For some reason, it just doesn't do anything for me. No thanks...

Hey "Cobra", I can tell that you are still very excited about the two rifles that you received from the CMP. We all know the feeling. You typed: "And here is the Rem. 52D" That's OK, we all know that you meant "Win. 52D not Rem. 52D. Receiving a rifle from the CMP will do that to you. Congrats, nice rifles.

Good catch! I think it's more a result of advancing age.
Oh, well.
Now let's see some pictures of your latest acquisition. Sounds like it is a good one.

this is a CMP rifle I picked up last November at the range I shoot at. It had been on sale for $995 all last summer and the price was dropped to $795 late fall. Seeing as it had a set of Palma sights and a full set of inserts for the front sight in addition to a stock hand stop, I couldn't resist.

Is it me or is the handstop installed backwards?

It may have been. I took it off after I took the pictures.

My REM 40X USMC after some stock cleaning and light refinishing. Most handling marks and scratches went away but gouges remained. It looks like it won a few matches in its day - and could win more tomorrow. It shoots with my best Kimber but I'm just getting to know it.
