Default Remington 1903A3 New?

I know a guy wanting to sell his new unfired Remington 1903A3.

New? Unfired? Is that possible?

Serial Number: 373335x.

Thanks

No. All rifles were shot. But without a much better description and pictures there is no telling.

One of the first A3s I acquired (many years ago for $200) looked so good I thought it was new. It was (I learned), an Ogden rebuild. Check the available specs regarding A3 Parkerizing, blueing and correct parts. I suspect you have a rebuild, but apparently Ogden simply stamped some unused rifles as they went through, so you might get lucky. Good Shooting. ...

Possible, but a very remote possibility. Really none could be "unfired" if it has a proof stamp on it but, it could be unissued. I have an unissued 3-43 in my safe that has only been proof fired.

Pictures would tell the tale. Unissued rifles would have all the properly finished parts. A telltale rebuild trait would be any stock furniture that is Parkerized, a Parkerized bolt body and Parkerized trigger housing. The receiver would be Parkerized but have an "off" color to it if original finish. Like below.

I scored a Smith Corona that has OG stamped on left side. Rifle looks like new, with exception of the Remington parkerized bolt assembly.

I have a 416xXxX someplace that meets that criteria. One sold for $1700 on GB not long ago.
