Default Monthly 1 Year NRA membership give-a-way

Once a month I will be giving away an NRA membership to a lucky forum user! You guys have been amazing in your support of my program's development, so this is my way to give back to the community.

If you want to be entered into this month's contest, just post below what your favorite firearm is, and why! At the end of the month I will select a winner and then start next month's contest.

And for the record, I'll state mine is the M4 -- I spent way too many years as Infantry to not love it

Mine is the M1 carbine. It is light weight, easily portable. It has low recoil, and easy to clean when your done.

I have owned one or more since I was 18 years old. They are lean, trim and simple.
Besides all of that, I really enjoy shooting them. Garands are fun also, but the carbine being light and compact with a small bullet is easy to carry, handle and shoot.
In the military, I stared out on the carbine but we later went to the M-16. It's just not the same.

Thumbs up

Mine would be the Remy 22 that I took my first shot with my grandfather some 38 years ago with in the snow field farm he lived on. It was some of the best times I remember and it will always be my favorite. I plan on teaching my princess how to shoot with this very rifle in a few years. She is turning 4 in 6 weeks.

If I had a close second it would be my M1 just because I watched it in the movies/films about the war and how in he hands of the US hero we saved the world again. AMERICA!!

I would have to say that my current favorite firearm is the AR-57. I've been a huge fan of the P90, and having served in the Army I've obviously been plenty familiar with the M16/M4 family. In my opinion, the AR-57 is the perfect mix-breed of both.

It's sort of the Go-To weapon for those in tactical situations where a standard rifle/carbine is considered too powerful and the standard SMG is considered too weak, or when a rifle/carbine is not always desired (MOUT/CQB).

And for those that are formerly trained to operate the M4 variants, transitioning over to the AR-57 requires much less retraining due to the lower being the same. It's also a good option for LE agencies, because the cost of the new upper and magazines/accessories is much lower than complete new weapons.

Besides, it's a blast to shoot and it's plenty accurate for casual range use. Personally, I like to spend my time at the range shooting, not loading mags. Having a 50-round magazine is a huge bonus, yet it isn't awkward because it's stored in-line with the weapon itself (and not extending two feet below the weapon).

I know that the NRA added 5.7mm firearms to their TPC list in 2009, but I think that it currently only supports the P90, PS90, and FiveSeven pistol. Hopefully the AR-57 will be added to that list in time, if it's not already approved.

Sorry, I should have stated the full title just in case. If you've never seen a TPC event before, they are awesome. Might even be able to see some quality videos on Youtube or something.

After reading through the NRA TPC Standards, the AR-57 might be considered "legit" as long as it's proven to be a duty firearm in use by your department/agency.

Yeah, it's impressive -- I'd love to get into that... guess I need to look at new firearms heh
