Default What can you tell me about these bayonets

Picked these up from another remember here, they are bayonets sold by the CMP, came In CMP boxes with heavy cosmoline, this is after a first initial cleaning.
Are they US? If foreign what country?
What period would they be?

They appear to be foreign made M4 bayonets for the M1 Carbine. I say that because they do not match any of the marking shown of the known US makers in the attached link.

http://www.usmilitaryknives.com/bayo_points_17.htm

The US producers seem to have had the Ordnance Bomb stamped on the cross guard and the name of the builder. The mark kind of reminds me of the "King's Head" proof of the Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie Company in Solingen, Germany. The mark is kind of "muddy" looking because of the deep stamping.

After your post I did some research and I believe you are correct. They are very nice quality, I had an Italian bayo and to me these look much closer to a US WWII bayo than the Italian did

The mark on the pommel (back) of your bayonet is from the Kongsberg Arsenal in Norway. The Italian bayonets are more like our post war M4 and I agree the Norwegian are more like our WW2 M4.

Now all you need is the matching Norwegian manufactured scabbards. Dupage used to have them but appears sold out.

Next to the $60 M2 AP ammo crates, these were one of the best deals the CMP ever had! $25 each, I ordered four way back when and they are beautiful. I sold one for $200 and kept the rest. Great quality. Never did find the right sheath though.

Very interesting information. Can anyone tell me what years these Norwegian bayonets were manufactured?

Production is believed to have began circa 1954 according to the below website.
