There is really no change from the 9th Edition to the newer 10th Edition, so if you can find the 9th Edition at a cheaper price, it will serve you well.

HTH.

Where did you hear that? I do not believe that is an issue with the M1A/M14 family of rifles.

The OPs concern is valid. Both the M1 Garand and the M1A can be damaged by excessive port pressure.

Since we end users cannot measure chamber pressure or port pressure and ammunition manufacturers do not supply that info all we can do is stay below 180 grain bullets and use a powder with a burn rate in the IMR4895 range.

As to NATO ammo pressure specs, far as I know the M14 was the only NATO rifle which had a problem with high port pressure and it has been obsolete for a long time. So there is no reason to believe current NATO pressure specs are designed around M14 requirements.

All I know for certain is M1A competitors have shot truck loads of Federal 168 grain match ammo and 168 and 175 grain reloads with IMR4895 and similar burn rate powders without negative effects.

Op rods are expensive so those two options are what I will stick with.

Is the jury still out on Atomic 308 from 2013? I have (1) can and am thinking of running it thru a Springfield M1A.
