Frame apears to have the original finish! Find a slide with dilute finish if you can! That’s a beauty!

While I realize I was lucky to get a SG early on, I would have waited and chosen your FG. I cannot count how many sunny days I got mine out in the light just to read the stampings. Nice score!

Dulite slide wouldnít do him any good as thatís not the appropriate finish for a slide on a pistol in that serial number range. As a side note, not addressed to the owner of the pistol in question, why would you spend the time effort and money to get one of the last verifiable as issued 1911/A1 pistols from the US government and start looking to change parts or turn it into something itís not or will never be?

Unhappy

I would be happy with that one, but my number is in the 14,000 range so will not be getting one any time soon.

If offered a rack grade rattler, i'd probably go for it. lol

45acp is not a round i normally shoot anyways, so the 1911 would simply add to my collection and not get fired much. If I wanted to shoot it a ton, I'd definitely go for service grade. I shoot 45LC and 454 when i'm in a "45 mood".
