Hi Sir,

Usually there is a month & date last two#'s example 5-43 There may be one or more initials like R (Remington)- SA (Springfield Armory) or HS ( High Standard) or other markings.
New Criterion barrels are marked in the chamber area on the bottom of the barrel.
On the M1 Garand the markings are on the op rod side of the barrel, you must pull the op rod back to see it.
