Pretty much sums it up. The HRA SGS is only a butt stock and hand guards away from a correct grade, perhaps even a collector grade, rifle, while the CMP Special will only ever be a shooter (nothing wrong with that, but just doesn't represent as much value as in the SGS, IMO, YMMV).

I would personally purchase the HRA SGS as like others have said will be almost like new rifle with correct HRA parts and new walnut stock. Rifle will only be a HRA stock away from collector grade quality. They are really nice clean rifles. The CMP specials will be a re-parked receiver (SA WWII/post war) with a new Criterion barrel and walnut stock.
