Default A stock option I would like to see

And I am only speaking for myself , but have been here long enough to have seen some threads that make me think a few others may like the idea .......I like to refinish stocks ...... but only the fun part , I hate the stripping of old finishes.
So lets say .... if I were to order a grade of rifle that either does come or may possibly come with new wood. I would love the option to select new unfinished wood. I understand the CMP sells this product anyhow , so it would not be a new product to carry. I'd even be willing to spend an extra 10 bucks for that option.

I'm sure others would hate the idea with a passion , but just a thought.

Since the rifles are shipped "next one on the rack", you are asking the CMP to do one of three things:

1.) No longer put wood on the rifles so the wood is added during the packing step depending on request
2.) Have the rifle packers switch wood to unfinished ones at the packing step
3.) Create new "unfinished wood" part numbers for some/all rifle grades

Given messing with wood on a rifle for either #1 or #2 takes time, and doubling inventory needs for #3 is not trivial (essentially they have to carry a new rifle SKU in inventory), I don't think any of those options are likely for the subset of customers that want to tinker with the stock versus those that just want a shooter.

The win-win scenario is to also purchase the unfinished stock with the rifle, and sell the finished one in the Marketplace on arrival.

I just wish they would offer a woodless version again.

Time is money, and OP is offering to pay more money. Sounds equitable!

Yep. A whole 10 dollars! Would you run a wood swapping business at that rate?

If they were to do it I think it would have to be a lot more than that.

I just dont see how this is better than just buying the unfinished wood at time of rifle purchase. You have to remove the wood to refinish it anyway.

This would cause a logistic and administrative nightmare... I doubt that it would be equitable in any way.

Or just order an unfinished stock, swap it out, and sell the finished stock that came on the rifle. In the end you’ll break even, but won’t have to worry about removing the finish from a stock.

Now that's an idea. Esp since wood has become such an issue for the CMP lately.
The end buyer could then order whatever wood they wanted ..... even hackenberry if that floated their boat.
