Default South Store Visit 2/14/19

Not even going to attempt to provide the detail Tom does, but a couple of things worthy of note from today’s visit.

Six customers present at opening, a couple more shortly thereafter. The racks were not full. I didn’t count the empty spots, but would estimate 20 or so.

Pretty much what has been reported previously regarding CMP Specials. Several FG IHCs and at least 3 SA 6 mils. About 15 min after opening the staff brought out about a dozen SA and WRA SGs (six or so of each I think). I didn’t get a close look at many as they went quick. The ones I did look at had USGI wood for the most part, but I saw no cartouches of note. No Win barrels on the WRAs I looked at.

I left and headed to TMP. Racks were full and on the floor racks just about all IHC FG. I did see a SA SG in that mix. Can’t remember the SN, but I know it had a SA 1-56 barrel on it and was correct for the SN.

The racks behind the counter had mostly IHC CMP specials. About 6 SA 308 specials and again that number of WRA 308 specials.

Nothing called out to me so I went to the range, shot for an hour the debated the merits of returning to the SS. Glad I did!!

I walked in the SS around 11:30 and Bobby asked me if I noticed anything different from my first visit. Indeed! 7 Remington 1903A3s. Easily 4 were the nicest I have seen since Jan of last year.

I kept going back and forth between a 3.8 and a 4.0 and ultimately settled on the former as the stock had really sharp cartouches including a RA rebuild one. It also had blued as opposed to parked bands, bolt and all marked Remington.

Bobby indicated they had no idea that the 03s would be on the floor. Before anyone asks no idea whether there will be more, but when I left at 12:30 PM there were exactly six.

Service grade 1903A3s at $670.00 plus 10% sales tax. Case comes with it and you have the option to buy a cotton web sling just like with the Garands.

Wish I could make the trip. Would love to have a 1903 in the collection.

When I left around 1pm, they had 1 1903 and 5 1903A3s. Limit one per year.
