Default Got my Colt Archive letter for the CMP M1911A1

Received my M1911A1 (Colt #895,555) from the CMP back in November and ordered up a letter from the Colt Archives last January to see if I could learn anything else about where it's been.

Took a little over 4 months to arrive, but the letter finally showed up Saturday. (I added a scan to my shared photo album linked below.)

The letter says that the pistol was originally shipped to:

Transportation Officer
Springfield Armory
Springfield, Massachusetts
For: Commanding Officer
February 24, 1943

Colt Factory Order #1916
Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 3,600

I find it interesting that the Colt letter states the fiinish as "blue" but they were all parkerized at that point.

Wonder if they meant the Du-Lite blue? (I have no idea when that finish was used, but my other (original) M1911A1 Colt from 1943 looks to have a black/blue type of factory finish)
