Default 4.2 million and 4.3 million SA rifle

I tried a search and got zip. Does anyone have a reference or a listing of complete rifles or a list of the correct parts?

Duff's little blue book of Garand Serial Numbers and Data Sheets lists 4.20, 4.22, and 4.37.
This book is cheap and handy to have around.

I have Duff's book, but not comprehensive enough to make predictions. Ive seen correct post war auction rifles with numbers all over the place.
It seems post war SA's are not as consistent with production dates as wartime. It's difficult to find receiver dates.

Not an expert by any means, but my understanding is war time parts were used on early 4.2ís. Early 4.3ís had a possibility of 3 different stocks, plus ord. wheel/ DAS. stamped barrels that overlapped to some extent. You may have nailed it with ď all over the placeĒ. I have seen barrels with the same date seperated by several thousand on the rec..Like you, Iím always looking for more info on these early rifles.

I'm thinking I read somewhere that SA switched to the DAS/P with serifs cartouched stock somewhere around S/N 4,320,000 receiver. Duff's S/N book and correct S/N 4.3550xx in my collection would seem to indicate that is true. Earlier post war S/A stocks should be SA/JLG with small ordnance emblem.

I received a SA/JLG with small ordnance emblem on a 4.66 million HRA.
