Default 1903A3 Original Handguard ID

Is there any way to ID an original 1903A3 Remington Keystone scant handguard? Thanks

To my knowledge, Keystone did not make scant handguards for Remington.

So would any manufacturer hand guard be correct for a Keystone scant stock? Thanks

If you intend to fit a Keystone scant stock to a Remington M'03-A3, then any handguard can be considered acceptable. I will advise you, however, that Remington did not fit scant stocks, Keystone or otherwise, to their M'03-A3 rifles.

The correct handguard on a Keystone-stocked Remington M'03-A4 would be a standard Remington M'03-A3 handguard. A Remington M'03-A3 handguard has the following peculiar features:

(1) A gentle rounded hump about 1" from the rear.

(2) A distinct 1" wide relief cut in the barrel channel for the front metal clip.

Good Luck!

Who fit the scant stocks, rear echelon armorers?
Or did the scant stocks appear on rifles in post war rebuilds?

Late Remington M'03-A4's were factory-fitted with Keystone scant stocks. Remington M'03-A3's were never factory-fitted with scant stocks.

Keystone and other contractors made large quantities of scant stocks for use as field replacements by rear echelon armorers and as overhaul replacements by arsenal and depots. Scant stocks, therefore, can appear on any rifle, including post war rebuilds and installation by Bubba.
