Default 1903A3 Stock Stamp Question (from South Store)

Hi All,

I was in a trip to Atlanta and stopped by the South Store last Saturday afternoon. I felt really lucky that several 1903 rifles were still available and picked a 1903A3 with a decent 4-groove barrel and flew back to Minnesota. The armors and clerks are all super nice. I received my rifle via shipping earlier this week. Really love it.

My only question is the big "D" stamp (there are three of them) below the circle P mark at the grip. See picture below. I tried my best to search the information and couldn't find any similar marking. I hope it's not short for "drill rifle"? In addition, there's a smaller "PB" and "3" stamp in front the magazine base (the location of the stamp seems a little weird to me and I'm not sure what kind of stamps are these neither)

Any insights are much appreciated! Thank you in advance!

They were not put on by Remington or Smith-Corona.

I have seen a D like that on another rifle. Have no idea what it is but feel confident it has nothing to do with drill.

Exclamation

Not done by any USGI entity. The Greeks were famous for beating up their stocks with varied and odd shaped metal stuff. I suspect those are something of that sort.

The D's appear to be CMP Greek markings.
