Default 1903 stock cartouche

Stamped N M on butt of stock.... having problems posting graphics......

anyway what the hell does N M mean......???? can't find any information, could it be a national guard unit or reserve?? or just someone thinking its cute for national match.??
for sure this rifle was manufactured 1910

That kind of stamping and size looks something like that was done by a previous owner. Perhaps even the owners initials? Don't think that is a military marking....
