Thank you guys, with your help I think I am starting to piece together some of this carbines history. Finding the CMP hang tag, the lack of import markings make more sense now.

With the added input that it is likely an early Underwood receiver made by Inland only adds to its history. The last digits of the serial on the receiver appear to be stamped slightly different which I would think supports that argument.

While there may be no way to prove it is a actual complete Austrian return, it is nice to find out it likely shipped from the CMP as a Service Grade. While I do not plan to sell it in my lifetime, would you say getting CMP documentation would add to its value?

For $25 it can't hurt. If it would increase value?......hard to say. Might raise the value by $25....

It is not likely, it is a known fact 1,350,050 was an Inland receiver.

All the digits of the serial number were stamped by Underwood so Inland had nothing to do with their appearance.
