You say you live close to the store, right? So if nothing else go to the North Store and get the lay of the land so if you should go back you know where to go. Take your paperwork with you and if by chance you find a rifle you have everything in order. If you don't find a rifle submit your paperwork and buy some ammo because you will need it sooner than later. Didn't you say you just bought a carbine? Well they have carbine ammo for $20 for 50 rounds. Now is a great time to go and visit the CMP and Camp Perry. The National Matches atre going on now so that is another reason to pay the NS a visit.

If you purchase a rifle at the north store then you skip the notary part, right?

The notarys are at the store and will do it there when you submit your paperwork and now your notorized form is good for 3 years.

I will be looking for a well used WW2 Garand that I can shoot occasionally with decent accuracy. I don't want a new looking rifle. I want a war-weary rifle with no rust/corrosion and an old stock. The cheaper, the better.

So which grade do I need to fulfill my list?

sounds like a field grade to me. but if they have SA service grades in the right serial number, I think it would be worth your 100$ extra.

if you go to the store, just do some research on how to tell if its' a WW2 era or not.

also good idea to call ahead and see how many are in stock, etc.

If you travel a great distance, plan on spending several days, I just bought two nice rifles over four days, I could of had three but, you know $$. Picken's are slim now, I noticed ten restocked SA FG's( mostly WW II recievers) and six-seven Winchester SG'S per day this week, so far. Best advice, get there early and don't second guest because, it WILL be gone.
