Default My first 1911 - Colt (173XXXX)

I feel so lucky to get my first 1911 from CMP. RNG 1846 arrived at FFL 1/4/19.

All I really know about it is itís a Colt frame and slide. Thereís some stamp I canít make out above the mag release otherwise I canít locate any other markings. The lettering on the slide is a bit faint (I assume because of the parkerizing).

Please let me know what I may have missed!

Iíve learned so much in the short time Iíve been on this forum. Thanks to all the contributors and CMP!

That's a "GHD", for Guy H. Drewry, who was the inspector at Colt, above the mag release. It's a Colt, which you already knew.

Beautiful!

Was this pistol ever fired? It looks like it was never issued.

Nice score!

Is there a serial number under the firing pin stop? Based on your frame's serial number, I don't believe it should.
